Young Oklahoma Artist

Showcase your creativity and pride for the Sooner state through guided art lessons.  Every art activity focuses on an Oklahoma theme.  Paint canvases ranging from an outline of the state and state bird (scissortail flycatcher) to our Oklahoma City Thunder and their mascot Rumble.  OU and OSU are also featured subjects.


Course Outline

Day 1 - Mon

Class Introduction (expectations, materials, overview of art techniques, mediums, etc.)

Projects: Oklahoma state outline splatter painting, Oklahoma state symbol/flag painting

Art Objective: positive and negative space

Day 2 - Tue

Projects: Oklahoma City Thunder Rumble portrait, finish projects from previous day (if needed)

Art Objective: Color Wheel and choosing color combinations (complimentary, split complimentary, analogous, tertiary and triadic colors)

Day 3 - Wed

Projects:  Scissor-tailed Flycatcher painting, Bison painting, finish projects from previous day (if needed)

Art Objective:  horizon line/background and value

Day 4 - Thu

Projects:  University (Oklahoma or Oklahoma State) multi-sports paintings, finish up and remaining projects

Art Objective:  line, shape, and texture

Enrollment begins April 6 for 9-11-year-olds and April 13 for 12-14-year-olds.
