Sew What Plus Monogramming!

Learn the basics of using a sewing machine and monogramming machine while having fun making projects you can use every day.

Comprehensive CareerTech Family and Consumer Sciences teacher with 19 years of teaching experience.  I am currently in my 9th year as the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Norman North High School.  I begin my career teaching in Mid-Del Schools were I was the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Del City High School for 10 years.  I am the Adviser for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter at Norman North High School.  During the school year, I teach Foods and Nutrition, Food Preparation, Child Development, Parenting, Textiles, Fashion, Interior Design and Marriage & Family Courses.   I have been teaching Sewing Classes for Moore Norman Technology Center's Summer Youth Academy for the last 7 years.  


Course Outline

Day 1 - Mon

Sewing safety and how to use the sewing machine (threading, winding bobbins, and practice lines), pillowcase fabric selection and cutting out patterns

Day 2 - Tue

Sewing pillowcases and monogramming, cutting out bags and sewing bags

Day 3 - Wed

Monogramming bags and cutting out fleece blanket and/or pillow

Day 4 - Thu

Finish sewing pillow or fleece blanket, wrap up all projects and monogramming plus free sewing time to create and embellish projects
