Forensic Files

Be a forensic scientist for a week and apply science to the law while solving mysteries.  Learn fingerprinting, fiber analysis, handwriting analysis, and how a forensic lab works, among many other things that a CSI needs to know! Use these skills as you solve several crimes throughout the week.

"My daughter learned so much at this camp.  She was more excited each day to go back."

Course Instructor

Paula Warner

I graduated from OU with a degree in Science Education.  I taught Middle School Science for Norman Public Schools for 30 years (the majority in 8th grade).  I taught CP Biology in Middle School for 5 years. Many of those years were spent in writing and revising curriculum for the district. I have been retired from teaching for 2 years and am spending time volunteering, traveling and spending time with my family. This will be my 7th year as a SYA instructor.  My greatest joy in teaching is the interaction with students, they still make me laugh!

Ashley Parker

I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Animal Science. I was fortunate enough to teach 6th and 7th grade Science for Norman Public Schools for 7 years, all of those years at Alcott Middle School. For the last 4 years, I have spent my days as a Veterinarian Technician at an animal hospital. I enjoy my interactions with the animals, owners and using my knowledge of Animal Science to help educate and help in any way. I am currently not in the classroom during the school year, but I look forward to spending my summers teaching at the Summer Youth Academy and have done so for 9 years. My greatest joy is seeing the students have fun and learn!
