Course Instructor

Paula Warner

I graduated from OU with a degree in Science Education.  I taught Middle School Science for Norman Public Schools for 30 years (the majority in 8th grade).  I taught CP Biology in Middle School for 5 years. Many of those years were spent in writing and revising curriculum for the district. I have been retired from teaching for 2 years and am spending time volunteering, traveling and spending time with my family. This will be my 7th year as a SYA instructor.  My greatest joy in teaching is the interaction with students, they still make me laugh!

Ashley Parker

My name is Ashley Parker. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Animal Science. I was fortunate enough to teach 6th and 7th grade Science for Norman Public Schools for 7 years, all of those years at Alcott Middle School. For the last 4 years, I have spent my days as a Veterinarian Technician at an animal hospital. I enjoy my interactions with the animals, owners and using my knowledge of Animal Science to help educate and help in any way. I am currently not in the classroom during the school year, but I look forward to spending my summers teaching at the Summer Youth Academy and have done so for 9 years. My greatest joy is seeing the students have fun and learn!
